About Us Established in 1962, the Friends of the Long Beach Public Library is a non-profit 501c3 organization. Our first goal is to preserve the freedom of the library and prevent censorship. We also advocate for a strong public library system. We provide materials, support summer reading programs, provide cultural and literary events for the community, fund training for library staff, and keep abreast of current issues affecting the library.
Annual Meeting and Literary Luncheon Please see our flyer for information regarding the annual meeting and literary luncheon on May 17th from 11:30AM-3:00PM.
Thinking of reducing your collection of Coffee Table Books on the arts, gardening, planes, trains, history, military, travel and anything great? Think of donating to the Friends of the Long Beach Public Library. The Friends’ Bookstore at Main Library successfully auctions gently used books every month and can always use more. Proceeds from the auctions and bookstore are used to purchase new books for the library. Contact Friend Barbara Hubbs at (562) 425-1185 for more information.
Join Us We're always looking for people to join the board, work on a special committee, volunteer in the bookstore, or help at special events. To join, please print and complete the membership application and mail it the address below.
